2-Fluorophenylhydrazine is a structural analog of the neurotransmitter glutamate. It binds to metabotropic glutamate receptors, which are found in the brain and spinal cord, and has been shown to have antioxidant effects. 2-Fluorophenylhydrazine has been shown to cause vasodilation by stimulating soluble guanylate cyclase. This compound also inhibits curcumin analogues that can be used as anti-inflammatory agents; 2-fluorophenylhydrazine inhibits the reaction solution of curcumin analogues with sodium hydrogen. It has an inhibitory effect on orally administered curcumin analogues, but not on intravenously administered curcumin analogues.
