Description:

2-Fluorophenyl isothiocyanate (2FPITC) is a molecule that belongs to the class of isothiocyanates. It has been shown to have anticancer activity against human cancer cells in vitro, and is currently being used for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. 2FPITC has been shown to inhibit growth and induce apoptosis in Bovine serum albumin (BSA) and human serum. 2FPITC also inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β, which are thought to be involved in inflammation. 2FPITC exhibits an increased cytotoxicity towards cancer cells that have high levels of a-type cytochrome c oxidase, which may be due to its ability to disrupt the oxidation cycle.
