Fmoc-Tyr(tBu)-OPfp is an amino acid sequence of a glutamate receptor subtype that has been synthesized and shown to have amine properties. This synthetic glutamate receptor subtype has been modeled using molecular modelling techniques to identify the residues that are essential for binding with the ligand, as well as those that can be modified without affecting the activity of the receptors. The results of this study have been used to design a monoclonal antibody affinity probe to identify glutamate receptors in cells. Fmoc-Tyr(tBu)-OPfp has also been successfully modeled in Xenopus oocytes and demonstrated an ability to bind with high affinity and specificity to its receptor.
