Fmoc-Gln(Trt)-Wang resin is a synthetic molecule that contains threonine as its reactive group. It is used in research to generate mutant proteins and in the synthesis of neuroprotective growth factors. Fmoc-Gln(Trt)-Wang resin has been shown to be neuroprotective in brain cells by binding to iron and silver ions. It also binds to metal ions such as copper, zinc, and nickel, which are neurotoxic when present at high concentrations. Fmoc-Gln(Trt)-Wang resin has been shown to have neurotrophic effects on cultured rat brain cells. It also has been shown to protect against neurotoxicity induced by amyloid beta protein.
