Description:

2-Fluoro-1H-imidazole is an organic compound with a chemical formula of CH3C6H4N. It is a colorless liquid that is soluble in water, ethanol and ether. 2-Fluoro-1H-imidazole has been shown to inhibit the development of autoimmune diseases and cancer in animals. The inhibitory effect on the immune system may be due to its ability to stimulate the production of hippuric acid, which inhibits the formation of proinflammatory leukotrienes. This compound has also been shown to have antiinflammatory properties by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. Structurally, 2-fluoro-1H-imidazole belongs to the class of c1-6 alkyl imidazoles and can exist as two stereoisomers: cis (Z) and trans (E).
