Product Information
- N6-[(3',6'-Dihydroxy-3-oxospiro[isobenzofuran-1(3H),9'-[9H]xanthen]-5-yl)carbonyl]-N2-[(9H-fluoren-9-ylmethoxy)carbonyl]-L-lysine
Fmoc-Lys(5-FAM)-OH is an activated ester of lysine that is used in the synthesis of peptides. It is synthesized by coupling a 5-fluoroacrylate group to the lysine side chain with ethylene glycol. The resulting product is then coupled with a second amino acid, and so on, until the desired peptide sequence has been created. Activated esters such as Fmoc-Lys(5-FAM)-OH are often used in solid-phase peptide synthesis because they are soluble and stable, and can be easily removed from the growing protein chain. This product can also be used to functionalize surfaces with mannose residues for use in cell adhesion studies or as nanocarriers for drug delivery. As a monodisperse compound, Fmoc-Lys(5-FAM)-OH yields macrophages that have high levels of mannose receptors on
