Product Information

Name:
N-trans-feruloyloctopamine
Description:

N-trans-feruloyloctopamine is a naturally occurring compound found in potatoes, which are members of the genus Solanum. It is used as a food additive and has been shown to have anti-cancer properties. N-trans-feruloyloctopamine has been shown to inhibit the transcriptional regulation of flavonol synthase in cell culture and to reduce tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) production in mice with cancer. It also inhibits protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. This compound has been shown to be effective against methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus, although it is not active against acid-fast bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium avium complex.
