Product Information
Fluorocyclopentane is a fluorine-containing, long-acting muscarinic antagonist that has been shown to have high affinity for the adrenergic receptor. It has been shown to be useful in the treatment of Parkinson's disease and other disorders involving central nervous system (CNS) dysfunction. Fluorocyclopentane is structurally similar to tetrahydropyran, and it was synthesized as an analogue of tetrahydropyran. Tetrahydropyran itself is not active, but when it reacts with fluorine and carbon radicals, it forms fluorocyclopentane. In addition, fluorocyclopentane is chemically stable and has a low energy level which makes it less likely to react with other compounds in the body. Fluorocyclopentane has also been shown to be resistant to mutation by bacteria because of its aromatic hydrocarbon structure.
