2-Fluoro-ADP is a reactive, polyvalent molecule that contains an adenine nucleotide analogue. It can be used as a fluorophosphate or as an analog of ATP. 2-Fluoro-ADP has been shown to enhance the activity of active enzymes in tissues and to protect against bladder irritation caused by hydroxyl ions. The ability of 2-fluoro-ADP to inhibit the synthesis of adenine nucleotides may be due to its structural similarity to ATP.
