Product Information

Name:
Fluoromycin
Description:

Fluoromycin is an antibiotic that inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It has been shown to be active against a range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including those resistant to other antibiotics such as penicillin, ampicillin, and erythromycin. Fluoromycin has been used in the treatment of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and leprosy. Fluoromycin has also been found to inhibit tumor growth in laboratory cell cultures by inhibiting cancer cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis. This drug binds to a cavity on the receptor molecule that is normally occupied by adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The carbonyl group on fluoromycin interacts with the receptor molecule, preventing ATP from binding, which prevents cancer cells from proliferating.
