Product Information
Fluoromethane-D3 is a volatile fluorocarbon that is used as an atmospheric tracer. It has been used to examine the global distribution of water vapour, and to study the reaction kinetics of chloride with water. The molecule can be analysed by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, which can provide information about the orientation of the molecule in space. Fluoromethane-D3 has been found to have a cavity of around 2 nm, which is large enough for deuterium molecules to fit inside. This means that it can be used as a substitute for hydrogen gas in reactions where hydrogen gas would be hazardous or expensive.
