Description

2-Fluorobenzamide is an anti-inflammatory agent that inhibits the replication of herpes simplex virus. It has been shown to interfere with the activity of wild-type herpes simplex viruses and to inhibit light-induced reactivation of latent herpes virus. 2-Fluorobenzamide also blocks α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, which are targets for Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia treatments, suggesting a possible role in the treatment of these conditions. This drug has also been shown to have biochemical properties that make it a potential candidate for cancer treatment. 2-Fluorobenzamide may be able to inhibit tumor growth by inhibiting uptake of radiotracers and zacopride, which is a dopamine D2 receptor agonist.
