Description:
5-Fluoroquinoline is a quinoline derivative that has been shown to have tumorigenic activity in animal bioassays. In addition, 5-fluoroquinoline induced genotoxic effects in liver cells and was found to be carcinogenic in rats and mice. The mechanism of action of 5-fluoroquinoline is not yet known, but it is thought to be due to its ability to bind covalently with DNA. It also binds to RNA and protein in the cell, which may lead to inhibition of transcription or translation.
