Product Information
- acetamide, N-[2-(6-fluoro-5-methoxy-1H-indol-3-yl)ethyl]-
6-Fluoromelatonin is a metabolite of melatonin that is produced from the pineal gland. It is found in animals and humans, where it has been shown to have a role in regulating the circadian rhythm. This compound has been found to terminate the synthesis of melatonin by inhibiting the enzyme, hydroxyindole-O-methyltransferase (HIOMT). 6-Fluoromelatonin also inhibits serotonin release from platelets, which may be due to its inhibitory effect on cyclic AMP production.
