Product Information
- 1-Octanamine, 8-Fluoro-
8-Fluorooctylamine is a reactive chemical that is used in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and research chemicals. It reacts with citric acid to form an 8-fluoro-1,3-dihydroxyoctane. This reaction releases hydrogen chloride gas and produces a fluoroacetyl group. The mesylate salt of 8-fluorooctylamine can be formed by reacting it with methanol and sodium methoxide in water. The salt is soluble in water and hydrochloric acid. 8-Fluorooctylamine has been shown to inhibit the activity of biochemical pathways such as the aldehyde pathway, which involves the oxidation of glucose to acetaldehyde by alcohol dehydrogenase enzymes. This compound also forms an unstable nitro group when reacted with nitrous acid, which can result in the formation of nitrogen oxides such as nitrogen dioxide or dinitrogen tetroxide.
