Product Information

Name:
4-Fluorodexetimide
Synonyms:
  • (3,4'-Bipiperidine)-2,6-dione, 1'-((4-(fluoro-18F)phenyl)methyl)-3-phenyl-, (S)-
  • (3S)-1'-[4-(~18~F)fluorobenzyl]-3-phenyl-3,4'-bipiperidine-2,6-dione
Description:

4-Fluorodexetimide is a synthetic drug that binds to and inhibits the function of acetylcholine receptors. It has been used in positron emission tomography (PET) studies to measure acetylcholine receptor density in the brain. This drug is used in research as a radiotracer for labeling acetylcholine receptors. 4-Fluorodexetimide can be synthesized from dexetimide, which is an anticholinergic drug with similar properties to atropine, by alkylation with 4-fluorophenylacetic acid. The deacetylation of 4-fluorodexetimide yields acetylcholine, which can be measured using PET imaging techniques.
