Description:

DL-2-Fluoro-3-Alanine is a cytostatic drug that is structurally modified to produce reactive compounds. These reactive compounds are cytotoxic and can cause DNA strand breaks, leading to cell death. The uptake of DL-2-Fluoro-3-Alanine has been shown to be higher at high concentrations and in hydrophobic environments. The accumulation of this drug can be determined by measuring its fluorescence or glutathione levels. This agent has also been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes such as ascorbate peroxidase and glutathione reductase, which may lead to an increase in the sensitivity of cancer cells to chemotherapy drugs.
