Product Information
2-Fluoroglutaric Acid is a monomer that is used in polymerization reactions. It has functional groups, such as chlorine and fluorine, which are important for the synthesis of fluorinated polymers. 2-Fluoroglutaric Acid can be synthesized by using lithium aluminium hydride to reduce acrylonitrile. This reaction results in a mixture of 2-fluoroacrylic acid and 2-fluoropropionic acid. The conversion of 2-fluoroacrylic acid to 2-fluoropropionic acid is accomplished by using an electrolyte solution or a silicon fluoride catalyst. The yield of this reaction is low because diethyl ether must be used as a solvent to dissolve the reactants.
