Description

8-Fluorociprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that is used to diagnose bacterial infections of the body fluid. It has been shown to bind to and inhibit the activity of gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, by binding to DNA gyrase. 8-Fluorociprofloxacin has been shown to be effective in treating infections caused by gram-negative organisms, including E. coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae. 8-Fluorociprofloxacin binds to the bacterial enzyme DNA gyrase, preventing it from unwinding double stranded DNA at a specific site, which inhibits production of proteins vital for cell division. This drug also inhibits synthesis of specific proteins that are involved in growth factor activation and inflammatory responses.
