7-Fluoroheptan-1-Amine is a reactive, toxic, and potentially lethal chemical. It can be found in the citric acid cycle as a byproduct of the oxidation of fatty acids. 7-Fluoroheptan-1-Amine is also present in the kidney and has been shown to cause death in animals. This compound reacts with chloride ions to form hydrofluoric acid, which is highly toxic and corrosive. In animal studies, 7-Fluoroheptan-1-Amine has been shown to be carcinogenic and mutagenic, although it is not known if these effects occur in humans. The metabolism of this compound has not been well studied but it may be converted into other chemicals such as mesylate or tosylate.
