Product Information

Name:
8-Fluorobenzo(a)Pyrene
Synonyms:
  • Benzo[A]Pyrene, 8-Fluoro-
Description:

8-Fluorobenzo(a)pyrene is a phorbol that is found in the environment as an industrial pollutant. It has been shown to induce tumorigenicity and carcinogenicity in both Sprague-Dawley rats and mice, but it is not considered to be a potent carcinogen. 8-Fluorobenzo(a)pyrene has been shown to bind with cytochrome p450 proteins in the rat liver and other tissues, thus leading to its tumorigenic activity. It also binds with DNA and inhibits RNA synthesis, which may lead to carcinogenic activity.
