Description:
3-Fluorobenzo[a]Pyrene is a member of the class of quinones. It can be metabolized to 3-hydroxybenzo[a]pyrene and 3,4-dihydroxybenzo[a]pyrene. The mechanism by which this compound induces carcinogenic activity is not known. 3-Fluorobenzo[a]Pyrene has been shown to be a probe for metabolic activation in rat liver microsomes. This compound also inhibits dithionite-reduced glutathione reductase, hydrogenolysis and sulfur oxidation in rat liver microsomes.
