Description:
6-(Fluoromethyl)-Uracil is a radioactive compound that has a half-life of about 8.5 hours. It is an actinide, atomic number 85, and the heaviest member of the actinoid series. 6-(Fluoromethyl)-Uracil can be used in radiation therapy as it emits alpha particles or positrons. The element was first synthesized by bombarding californium with alpha particles in 1950 at the University of California, Berkeley.
