Description:
3-Fluoro-4H-chromen-4-one is a potent and selective fluorinating agent for the synthesis of fluoroquinolines. The compound has been used to synthesize 2,6-difluoroquinoline from 3,4-dichloroquinoline. This chemoselective reaction is accomplished by the initial addition of 3-fluoro-4H-chromen-4-one to the chlorinated quinoline followed by substitution with a fluorine atom at position 2. Selectfluor is an alternative reagent for this transformation, which can be used in place of 3-fluoro-4H chromen 4 one.
