9-Fluoro-5-Methylchrysene is a carcinogen that belongs to the group of unsubstituted, environmental fluoro chrysene. It has been shown to be carcinogenic in mice, where it causes skin tumors after topical application. This compound is metabolized in the liver and then activated by mouse enzymes. 9-Fluoro-5-methylchrysene has also been found to be mutagenic in vitro in the mouse erythrocyte assay, where it induces mutations at the thymidine kinase locus.
