12-Fluoro-5-methylchrysene is a synthetic carcinogen that has been shown to be tumorigenic and carcinogenic in animals. 12-Fluoro-5-methylchrysene has been shown to cause mutations in the DNA of typhimurium, with the frequency of mutation increasing with dose. It also increases the frequency of tumor formation in animals exposed to this substance. 12-Fluoro-5-methylchrysene is an isomer of 3-methylcholanthrene, which is an animal carcinogen and was found to be tumorigenic in hamster v79 cells. This compound has been shown to induce cancer in mammalian cells at high doses.
