Product Information

Name:
5-Fluoro-8-Nitro-Quinoline
Synonyms:
  • Quinoline, 5-fluoro-8-nitro-
  • 5-Fluoro-8-nitroquinoline
Description:

5-Fluoro-8-Nitro-Quinoline is a molecule that has been investigated for mutagenic activities. Mutagenicity of this molecule was evaluated using the typhimurium ta100 and nitro strains. 5-Fluoro-8-Nitro-Quinoline showed strong mutagenic activities in both strains, with an enhancement effect on the ta100 strain at high concentrations. The substitution pattern of 5-fluoro-8-nitroquinoline is similar to that of 5 nitroquinoline, but the fluorine atom may be responsible for its stronger mutagenic activity. This molecule also induces DNA damage in bacteria, such as salmonella typhimurium and typhimurium ta100.
