Product Information
3-Fluoropropane-1-sulfonate is a substrate analogue that is catalytic and binds to the active site of archaea. It has been shown to be an irreversible inhibitor of porphinoid synthesis, which is essential for the production of nucleic acids. 3-Fluoropropane-1-sulfonate can also inhibit the synthesis of heme, riboflavin, and vitamin B12 in bacteria. 3-Fluoropropane-1-sulfonate interacts with the axial position on the porphyrin ring, which changes its shape. This prevents the formation of electron transfer complexes between enzymes and substrates, leading to inhibition of catalysis.
