Description:

1-Fluoro-3,5-Diiodo-Benzene is an iodinated derivative of Fluorobenzene. It is used for the production of 3,5-Diiodo-L-Tyrosine, a substrate for the synthesis of L-DOPA. 1F3DB is also used in the cross coupling reaction between phenylboronic acid and 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethanol to produce diaryl ethers. The labeled 1F3DB can be injected into monkeys and quantified by high performance liquid chromatography after it has been metabolized by the monkey's liver. This process is repeated until there are no more metabolites present in the monkey's body, which gives a measure of how much 1F3DB was injected. The monkey's brain uptake of 1F3DB can also be measured by injecting a radiolabeled form of the compound and measuring its uptake in the brain.
