Product Information
5-Fluoro-2-Methyl-Benzamide is a methyl ester that has been shown to produce an increase in epidermal growth factor (EGF) production in mutant EGFR cells. This compound was synthesized by the chemical reaction of 5-fluoroaniline and 2-methylbenzoyl chloride. It is not active against cancer cells in culture, but can induce cell proliferation when introduced into lung cancer cells. 5-Fluoro-2-Methyl-Benzamide has been shown to activate the receptor for EGF, which stimulates the synthesis of protein kinase C and increases the level of phosphorylation of tyrosine residues on growth factor receptors on the cell membrane surface.
