Product Information
2-Fluoro-3,5-dinitropyridine is a pyridine derivative that has been shown to have an electron-withdrawing group at 2-position. The functional theory of 2-fluoro-3,5-dinitropyridine shows that the compound has intramolecular hydrogen bonding and yields a resonance structure where the nitrogen atom is protonated. It has been shown to react with alcohols in a similar manner as pyridine. The 2-fluoro substituent also increases the reactivity of the ring by making it unsymmetrical. This means that this compound can be used in synthesis reactions to form methyl derivatives.
