4-Fluoroisonitrosoacetanilide is an anti-inflammatory drug belonging to the class of lactams. It has been shown to inhibit the translocation of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, which is mediated by ICAM-1. This effect leads to decreased production of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β. 4-Fluoroisonitrosoacetanilide also inhibits cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels in TNF-α induced cells, leading to a decrease in protein synthesis and cell proliferation. This drug also possesses amine binding properties that may be responsible for its anti-inflammatory activity.
