1-(3-fluorophenyl)propan-1-ol is an amino alcohol that can be synthesized in a catalytic asymmetric reaction from chiral magnesium 1,3-diphenylisobenzofuran with diethylzinc and trialkylborane. The synthesis of this compound is a two-step process. In the first step, the magnesium 1,3-diphenylisobenzofuran reacts with diethylzinc to form an alkyl Grignard reagent. This Grignard reagent then reacts with trialkylborane to produce 1-(3-fluorophenyl)propan-1-ol. The synthesis of this compound has been shown to be successful in experiment.
