Description:

(R)-1-(4-Fluorophenyl)ethanol is a homotetrameric compound that has enantiopure properties. It is a chiral molecule and can be used as a substrate in kinetic studies of bacterial dehydrogenases. The gene sequence and the enzyme's type have been sequenced and the substrate concentration has been determined.
The enzyme is sigmoidal, chemoenzymatic, and has high activity at low concentrations of iodide. It catalyses the conversion of benzaldehyde to benzoic acid with a rate constant of 2.5x10^-3 M^-1sec^-1 at 30 degrees Celsius in pH 7 buffer solution with 10 mM sodium acetate and 0.2% sodium iodide. The enzyme also catalyzes the conversion of phenylacetone to phenylacetic acid with a rate constant of 2.5x10^-4 M^-1sec^-1 at 30 degrees Celsius
