- Ethanone, 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-1-phenyl-
2-(4-Fluorophenyl)Acetophenone is a heterocycle that is used as an intermediate to produce other compounds. It can be made by reacting acetophenone with 4-fluorobenzeneboronic acid. 2-(4-Fluorophenyl)Acetophenone has been shown to react with chloride and halides, such as bromide and iodide, to form a substituted acetyl chloride or bromoacetyl chloride. This compound can also be prepared by the cross coupling of enolates with organometallic compounds, such as lithium aluminum hydride. The compound can be reduced thermally or chemically to yield the corresponding alcohols. 2-(4-Fluorophenyl)Acetophenone has also been used in the production of pharmaceuticals and pesticides.
