Product Information

Name:
2-Fluoro-3-Oxobutanedioic Acid
Description:

2-Fluoro-3-Oxobutanedioic Acid is a compound that belongs to the group of phosphoranes. The alkylthio group can be substituted with fluorine, chlorine, or bromine atoms. 2-Fluoro-3-Oxobutanedioic Acid has been used in the synthesis of sugar transport inhibitors and anti-inflammatory drugs. 2-Fluoro-3-Oxobutanedioic Acid also inhibits nucleophilic attack by hydroxide ions on the carbonyl carbon atom in phosphoenolpyruvate, which is an intermediate in glycolysis. This inhibition causes a decrease in ATP production and an increase in AMP levels, leading to cell death.
