Product Information

Name:
2-(4-Fluorobenzylamino)ethanol
Synonyms:
  • 2-[(4-Fluorobenzyl)amino]ethanol
  • Ethanol, 2-[[(4-Fluorophenyl)Methyl]Amino]-
Description:

2-(4-Fluorobenzylamino)ethanol is an agonist at the 5-HT4 receptor. It is used to study the role of this receptor in the regulation of serotonin release. 2-(4-Fluorobenzylamino)ethanol binds to the 5-HT4 receptor and stimulates serotonin release from nerve cells, which can lead to a variety of physiological changes such as increased gastrointestinal motility and heart rate. This compound has been shown to be more potent than other agonists that have been studied for this receptor, including 4-fluorophenylacetic acid, 3-[2-(2,5-dimethylphenoxy)benzyl]piperidine, and 1-(3,5-dimethylphenoxy)-2-[(1S)-1-methylpropyl]ethanone.
