4-Fluorophenylacetyl hydrazine is a chemists' tool for modulating carbohydrates. It has been shown to have potent inhibition potential against hepatitis C virus, as well as tuberculosis and other infectious diseases. 4-Fluorophenylacetyl hydrazine binds to the collagen in the cell membranes of infected cells and prevents the cell from taking up nutrients, which leads to the death of the cell. The compound also inhibits protein synthesis by binding to RNA polymerase and preventing transcription. 4-Fluorophenylacetyl hydrazine has been studied extensively using crystal x-ray diffraction, which has helped researchers understand its structure and mode of action.
