2-Fluoroisonicotinoyl chloride is a fungicide that is used to control plant diseases caused by fungi. The compound inhibits the growth of fungi by binding to the alkylthio group, which is present in the cell membrane and cytoplasm, thereby disrupting its function. 2-Fluoroisonicotinoyl chloride acts as an acceptor for benzene, chloroform, ethyl ether, and other organic solvents. It also reacts with alkoxy groups and aminoacetonitrile to form an intermediate product called 2-fluoroisonicotinamide. This intermediate binds to halogen atoms in the presence of chlorine or bromine, forming a new product called 2-fluoroisonicotinoyl chloride hydrochloride or 2-fluoroisonicotinoyl chloride bromide.
