Product Information
6-Fluoro-1-methylbenzoimidazole is a reactive compound that can be generated by the irradiation of 6-fluoroindazole with ultraviolet light. It can also be prepared by the reaction of 1,2-dichloroethane and 6-fluorobenzoyl chloride. This compound is used to synthesize carboxylates, which are organic compounds containing the carboxylic acid group. The substituent on the 6-position of this molecule can be either fluoro or chloro; both have been shown to react with aryl groups to form substituted benzoimidazoles. The substitution at the 6 position is regioselective, meaning that when two different substituents are reacted with aryl groups, one will preferentially attach to the carbon atom at position 6. Photolabeling has been used to study this reaction.
