Description:
Omega-fluoro-9-octadecenoic acid (OFD) is a fatty acid that has been shown to have cardiovascular effects in rats. It was found to decrease heart rate and cause a decrease in blood pressure when given intraperitoneally. OFD also caused bradycardia and death in rats, which were administered the extract solution or seed extract of Dichapetalum cymosum. This experiment showed that OFD may be toxic to the heart.
