Description

4-(4-Fluorobenzyloxy)Benzaldehyde is a macrocycle that has been used as a template for the transformation of various types of molecules. It is an optical theranostic agent, which can be used to monitor photodynamic therapy (PDT). 4-(4-Fluorobenzyloxy)Benzaldehyde has shown toxicities in animals, such as respiratory distress and hepatotoxicity. However, the toxicity is not observed when it is used in low concentrations for PDT. The drug also has luminescence properties; it emits light after absorbing a photon. 4-(4-Fluorobenzyloxy)Benzaldehyde can also be used to assemble benzyloxyphenyl groups into three dimensional structures by reacting with malononitrile and metal ions.
