2-Fluoro-7-methylbenz[a]anthracene is a hydrocarbon that has been shown to be carcinogenic in experimental animals. It has been shown to induce tumor formation and induce mutations in hamster V79 cells. 2-Fluoro-7-methylbenz[a]anthracene is mutagenic with pathways that involve the a-ring and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The carcinogenesis of 2-fluoro-7-methylbenz[a]anthracene has been shown to be dose dependent, with higher doses leading to more tumors.
