N-(3-Fluorophenylmethyl)Butylamine is a tuberculostatic agent that has been shown to inhibit the growth of mycobacteria. It has been shown to be effective against microorganisms that are resistant to other antimycobacterial agents and is active against strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, including multidrug-resistant strains. N-(3-Fluorophenylmethyl)Butylamine is a benzyl derivative that inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit in bacteria. This drug also has an antimycobacterial activity, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial enzymes responsible for fatty acid biosynthesis.
