Description:
4-(3-Fluoro-benzyloxy)benzaldehyde is a pyridinium salt, which is synthesized by the reaction of 4-(3-fluorobenzyloxy)benzaldehyde with potassium p-toluenesulfonate. This product has been used as a target product for monitoring the reaction between pyridine and hydroxylating agents. The impurity profile of this compound has been determined using liquid chromatography (LC) coupled to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The detection method used was UV at 270 nm. The result obtained was an isomeric mixture of 4-(3-fluorobenzyloxy)benzaldehyde and 2-(3-fluorobenzyloxy)benzaldehyde in a ratio of 3:1.
