It is a strong catalyst of chemical reactions and has been used to elucidate the active site of many enzymes. 3-Fluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)phenol has been shown to be an excellent substrate for enzyme catalysis. 3-Fluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)phenol is able to bind to the catalytic site of enzymes, which allows it to act as a catalyst for chemical reactions that would otherwise not occur. 3-Fluoro-5-(trifluoromethyl)phenol has also been shown to be a good substrate for protein synthesis in organisms such as Sprague Dawley rats.
