Description

4-[[(4-Fluorophenyl)imino]methyl]-phenol is a benzyl ketone with a 4-fluorophenyl group. It reacts with propanedithiol in the presence of an alkali to give the cyclized product ezetimibe. This reaction yields the desired product in high yield, but requires an expensive catalyst.
