Product Information
- 6-Phenylpyridine-2-carboxaldehyde
- 6-Phenylpyridine-2-Carbaldehyde
6-(4-Fluorophenyl)-2-Pyridinecarbaldehyde is a reversible covalent inhibitor of the enzyme phosphoglycerate kinase. It reversibly binds to the metal ion in the active site of the enzyme and prevents ATP from binding, thus inhibiting the phosphorylation of glucose 6-phosphate to form 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate. This inhibitor has been shown to be effective against a wide range of cancers (e.g., breast cancer), as well as other diseases such as diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease. The inhibition is specific for phosphoglycerate kinase and does not affect other enzymes in the glycolytic pathway.
