3'-O-(5-Fluoro-2,4-Dinitrophenyl)Adp Ether is a high affinity ATPase inhibitor with a specific affinity for the active site of ATPases. This compound has been labeled with 3'-O-(5-fluoro-2,4-dinitrophenyl)adenosine 5'-monophosphate (3'-O-(5-FDNP)) and can be used to identify the location of ATPase subunits in mitochondria. The labeling reagent is a covalent ether that can be hydrolyzed by pepsin. Labeling with 3'-O-(5-FDNP) has been shown to increase the specificity of detection when compared to other common labeling reagents such as biotin or fluorescein.
