1-(2-Fluoroethyl)-2-Methyl-5-Nitroimidazole is a nitroimidazole that inhibits hypoxic tumor growth. It has shown to decrease the average tumor volume and weight in a rat model of cancer. The biodistribution of 1-(2-Fluoroethyl)-2-Methyl-5-Nitroimidazole was studied in vivo, where it was found to accumulate in tumors with an average concentration of 0.3 µg/g tissue. The hypoxic cells had a concentration of 2.6 µg/g tissue, while the ischemic cells had an average concentration of 4.9 µg/g tissue.
